We Are No Longer Under The Old Covenant
The Israelites’ journey from Egypt to Sinai was a picture of pure grace. It was not dependent on their goodness, but God’s goodness, not their faithfulness, but His faithfulness. Before the Law was given not a single person was punished when they failed. However, immediately upon receiving the Law no one was spared when they failed. The good news is that we are not under the old covenant. We have been redeemed from the old covenant through the death of Jesus Christ. God does not assess us based on our performance, but on His goodness and faithfulness. The cross of Jesus DID make a difference. Enjoy the new covenant of grace. If you are still trying to live under the law, trying to be justified by your obedience to the Law, then you are making the sacrifice of Christ of no effect.
Under the Law, God said, “I will by no means clear the guilty.” In the new covenant, God says, “I will remember your sins no more.” The cross of Jesus makes all the difference!
